Does Internet Enhancements provide a dedicated IP address with my hosting account?
Yes, each hosting plan offered comes with a dedicated IP address. The hosting plans, by default, come with a shared IP address but you can easily enable a dedicated IP address in your control panel for no extra charge. A dedicated IP address is important for search engine rankings. Increasing a website's rank is contingent upon a unique IP address. Internet Enhancements understands the importance of search engine optimization and, therfore, a unique IP address as well as a free subsciption to the Marketing Control Panel is included for free with every hosting plan.

What is Search Engine?
Search engines utilize indexing software agents often called robots or spiders. These agents are programmed to constantly "crawl" the Web in search of new or updated pages. They will essentially go from URL to URL until they have visited every Web site on the Internet. Search engines read a web site's 'meta tags' and content in order to determine their ranking.

What is the difference between search engines and directories?
The main difference between a search engine and a general directory is that a directory will not list your URL if you do not first register it with them. They do not make use of indexing software agents and so have no way of knowing it's out there. As a result, their registration form will be considerably longer than just your URL. Directories are usually subdivided into categories and you have to submit your URL under the most appropriate heading.

What are doorway pages?
A doorway page is a page that is optimized to rank well on the search engines. Each search engine has it's own unique ranking algorithms (formulas used to determine the relevancy of a page to a given search term). Since every engine's algorithms differ, it is almost impossible to design one page that ranks well in all or even most of the search engines. This is why doorway pages are so important. A doorway page can be any existing page on your site or it can be a page that you create specifically for this purpose. A doorway page has no special look to it. It is simply an alternate entrance to your site that has the right words in the right frequencies, positions, and tags.

The design of the page is very important. A well designed doorway page blends into the rest of your site seamlessly. It also has relevant content targeted toward the key term. Each doorway page's content should vary somewhat with the key term. Ideally the doorway page is not just a fluff page but rather an informative, eye catching, relevant page that describes your product or service.

None of the engines are indexing my site, why?
You may not have allowed enough time for the engine to index your site. The indexing time for most engines is between two days and six weeks, if they are operating normally.
Some engines have several databases they pull results from. Therefore you may be listed in one that the engine isn't pulling from at the moment you do your search.
Frames. If you use frames on your pages, some engines cannot index frame properly.
They simply "lost" the url that was submitted. Sounds ridiculous but happens more often than you think.
Hosted on a free site. Some engines will not index pages from free sites. Anything that can be considered spamming technique. If an engine suspects any type of spamming they will may not index your page or ban your site entirely.
If your website is hosted on a server containing illegal adult content, and that site is on the black list of Google your website could be banned.
If your website is utilizing a shared IP address. All Internet Enhancements hosting plans come with a dedicated IP address for free. Some cheap web hosts do not offer static IPs. If your website is being hosted by a provider that does not offer dedicated IP addresses, your website rankings could be penalized.

What are Meta Tags?
Meta tags for your "title", "description", and "keywords".

A Title (with a high percentage of your site's keywords, and a title that starts with an "A" is best because some search engines sort alphabetically).
A Description (with a high percentage of your site's keywords)
Keywords (to see someone's keywords, while viewing a web site, click "view" "source". Then you can see what keywords they are using (who they are targeting).

For fun, go to your competitors web sites, and click "view " then click "source" (Netscape calls it "page source".) You will be looking for something that says "Meta keywords".

After your website is designed, it needs to be "submitted" to the top search engines (Yahoo, Excite, Lycos, Altavista, HotBot...there are hundreds of them.) The majority of them charge NOTHING for you to submit a site to them. The best place to begin submitting your site is Yahoo.com. After you submit your web site there, search for "search engines" and begins submitting your site at other search engines.

How do I renew my domain's registration?

What is domain propagation?
When a visitor types your domain name into their Web browser, their request is referred to a nameserver that indicates the physical location (the IP address) of your domain on the Internet. When your site location changes to a new IP address, or when a new domain name is added, nameservers around the world must be notified of the change. This process is referred to as propagation.

Propagation normally requires 24-48 hours. During this period, if you are transferring your domain, some nameservers will refer to the old location of your site and some to the new location. Therefore, a visitor accessing your site may be directed to either the old or new location. It is usually best to keep your previous hosting company until your transfer is verified as having taken place.

How do I register a domain name and web hosting with Internet Enhancements?
Internet Enhancements will register your domain name through Network Solutions for $35 per year (2 year minimum). Just complete the Hosting Order Form (just check the box that says "New Domain" and we will register your domain name and setup your hosting account instantly!).

Can I register a domain name if I am not ready to sign up for hosting yet?
Yes. We can register your domain name and you can set up a hosting account later. And, we will point your domain name to our servers so that when you sign up for hosting, your new domain name will be ready to use. (No transfer will be necessary.) Register a .com, .net or .org domain name up to 67 characters total for 1-10 years.

Can I register a domain with Internet Enhancements, but have the domain point to alternate nameservers?
Yes, you can make changes to your domain name here.

Do I need to pay attention to my domain registration's expiration date and ensure it is kept current?
Yes. It is your responsibility to verify that the registration of your domain name is complete. And, then the domain name registration comes up for renewal, the Domain Name Registration Company ordinarily will email the contact for your domain to remind you it will soon expire. If you do not keep your domain name's registration current, then the domain registration will expire and the domain would then become available for others to register. It is your responsibility to be certain that you keep your domain name registered. You can check the expiration date of your domain's registration here.

I renewed my domain name through this web site, but now I have questions. Where can I find answers?

Want to park a new domain under your existing account?
Just order your new domain on the domains page (in the blue rectangle that says "Domain Name Registration"), then contact tech support at: support@ie96.com and tell us your Account Domain Name and the new Domain Name. We will park your newly registered Domain for free.

What is a parked domain?
Parked domains are not separate accounts, they are merely pointers to an existing web site rental account. Parked domains do not have their own IP address, SEPERATE EMAIL ADDRESSES or their own control panel.

I changed my mind about the domain name that I registered. Is it too late to change it?
Once you register a domain name, you cannot "un-register" it. If you find that the domain name you chose no longer suits your business or personal needs, you should register another domain name. The domain name you originally registered will continue to be registered to you until the end of the registration period. Registration and re-registration fees are non-refundable.

E-mail FAQ

Can I check my mail through Outlook and Outlook Express?Yes. You can check your mail through all major mail-clients including Outlook, Outlook Express, and Eudora.

How much storage am I allowed per mail account?
Each email box on our shared hosting plans allows up to 100MB storage space.

How do I access my web based e-mail?
To access the web mail feature of your hosting package all you need to do is type http://webmail.ie96.com/horde/ into the address bar of your web browser. You will then be asked to enter the username and password of the mail account you wish to check.

What are my incoming and outgoing mail servers?
Incoming and Outgoing mail servers are simply yourdomain.com

Is "spamming" permitted through my account?
No. We do not permit spamming of any type on our servers.

We do not tolerate the sending of unsolicited commercial email or "spam" at all. We reserve the right to immediately terminate any domain without warning, without refund, that sends out unsolicited commercial email. If you wish to send email to people in OPT-IN lists, this is allowed being that those individuals have asked to receive advertisements or newsletters.

Do you offer any type of money back guarantee?

How do I submit payment on my account(s)?
Internet Enhancements accepts the following methods of payment:

How do I cancel my account?
You may cancel at anytime. As a policy, we do not offer credits or refunds for hosting time already expended. Domain registration fees and setup fees are nonrefundable.


Transferring your domain to another provider or nonuse of your hosting account does not constitute canceling your account. You must notify Internet Enhancements to formally cancel your account and avoid further charges.

How do I make changes to my account?
Most account maintenance issues can be handled in your Control panel. Simply access your control panel and click on "Contact Info".

Can I host a porn site with you?
No. We do not permit pornography of any type on our servers. Such abuse will result in suspension or cancellation of you account.

Can I use copyrighted material on my site?
You can use copyrighted material on your site if you have the holders permission to do so. If we find that you are in violation of U.S. copyright laws we have the right to suspend or cancel your hosting account at anytime.
